We help people access electricity.
Our founders, Samson and Simon, spent time as engineering students working on development projects in India and Africa, seeing first-hand how few interventions made a lasting difference to people’s lives. Wells, solar panels and stoves are important but when communities do not understand the underlying technologies, projects are not sustainable.
Samson and Simon realised that people need tools and knowledge rather than ready-made solutions. So in 2017 they founded The Local Electricity Project. Based in London and backed by Bethnal Green Ventures, we’re on a mission to make electricity creation possible for everyone.
